Starwood Hotels had the blunt realization that its associates were intimidated by the stereotypical snobbery associated with wine. Broadstreet tapped superstar sommelier Andrea Immer to help create a program that would teach top-line understanding and improve bottom-line results.

“This is your nose. This is your nose on wine.” - this is NOT the kind of attitude you’d expect from a program designed to train servers on how to sell and serve more vino...and that’s exactly the point.

The perfectly blended program included an instructional/motivational video, a customizable wine list, classroom training aids, and even temporary tattoos. After associates’ knowledge and comfort levels were raised, a once-daunting process became almost as simple as selling a Big Mac.
